How it works
From upload to protected version.
Free processes your file this one time and doesn't keep it afterwards. You get the protected version and a processing receipt, plus a recovery key if you choose reversible replacement.

Your file travels to ShareSafe encrypted and is processed in the EU, separately from Workspace.

ShareSafe replaces
Names, organisations, addresses, amounts, account numbers and other sensitive details each get a placeholder, such as [NAME_01] or [ORG_01].

You check and download
You leave visible what the recipient needs and mark any words that still need replacing. Then you download the protected version with a processing receipt.

Later: putting values back
Your recovery key turns the placeholders back into the original values whenever you need them.

Frequently asked questions
Do you keep my document?Not in Free. We don't keep your file or recovery key after processing. If you choose to keep the protected version in Workspace, we keep only that version.
Does anyone at ShareSafe read my file?Free processes your file automatically. Nobody opens it during normal processing.
Do I need an account?No. Free works without an account. For storage, teams and sharing through a link, there's Workspace.
Reversible or permanent replacement?Choose reversible replacement if you might need the original values later. Choose permanent replacement if ShareSafe shouldn't keep a link. Permanent replacement doesn't make a document anonymous by itself.
Where is my file processed?In the EU.
What if I lose the recovery key?Then the placeholders in that file can't be turned back into the original values. We don't keep a copy of the key in Free.
