ShareSafe in Claude

Work in Claude with your confidential documents.

This connection lets you use Claude on the documents in your ShareSafe Workspace. Claude searches, compares and summarises the protected version. If you want to know which name or amount sits behind a placeholder such as [NAME_01], you look it up in a private ShareSafe panel inside Claude. Claude itself doesn't see those details.

Claude works with the protected version, in which replaced details appear as placeholders such as [NAME_01]. When you ask a question about your documents, an AI model writes the answer from that protected content. Only you see the real values, in the ShareSafe panel.

What Claude sees – and what it doesn't.

Document content
The protected version, with placeholders such as [NAME_01]. In Claude, each one gets a suffix, as in [NAME_01~k7f2q]. That ties it to you and to the document, so only you can look up the real value.
File and vault names
Replaced as well. For each vault, you can choose to show Claude a label only.
Folder names
Not shown to Claude.
What Claude doesn't see
Documents still waiting for review, and vaults Claude isn't allowed to access.
Originals
Claude never gets originals and can't download anything.
Access rights
Claude sees only what you're allowed to see, and can't change anything. One exception: with your permission, Claude can flag text that's still readable. Someone with the right access then decides whether to replace it.

Detection can miss things, so you check the protected version before you share it. While you do, also make sure the rest of the content is fine to share.

If you connect an external AI service such as Claude yourself, you choose to share the protected version with that provider, under its terms.

Only you see the real details.

  1. Open

    Ask Claude to show a placeholder. A ShareSafe panel opens right in the conversation.

  2. Confirm

    You confirm with a security code, or approve it in ShareSafe.

  3. View

    The real value appears in that panel, for your eyes only.

The real values don't go back to Claude.

Security and access
  • You confirm with a code from your authenticator app, or approve the request in ShareSafe.
  • A confirmation lasts up to 30 minutes for that connection. A vault can set a shorter time.
  • You need permission to see originals in that vault.
  • Every time you view a real value, it's recorded in the activity log.
  • If you change your password or authenticator app, or sign out everywhere, you'll need to reconnect.

Claude
A Claude account. It works in Claude, Cowork and Claude Desktop, on the Free, Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise plans. On Free, you can add one custom connector.
How to connect ShareSafe to Claude

Personal account

  1. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors.
  2. Choose + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it ShareSafe and paste this URL: https://mcp.sharesafe.ai/mcp
  4. Sign in with your ShareSafe account, confirm with your security code and grant access.

Team and Enterprise

  1. An Owner adds the connector under Organization settings > Connectors > Add > Custom > Web, with the same URL.
  2. Members then choose ShareSafe in Customize > Connectors and click Connect.
  3. Everyone signs in with their own ShareSafe account.
